6. Promotional Offers and Fraud Prevention

New customers may receive a one-time welcome bonus, credited to their wallet after they verify their mobile number with an SMS code. To make sure the offer is claimed only once per person, when you claim it we create a one-way encrypted code (a keyed hash) from your verified phone number and, where verified, your email address. This code does not contain your phone number or email address and cannot be used to contact you or to build a profile of you. Because it can still be matched against your details, we treat it as personal data.

• Purpose: preventing the same person claiming the welcome offer more than once, including by deleting and re-creating an account.
• Legal basis: our legitimate interests in preventing fraud and misuse of promotions (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; see also Recital 47).
• Retention: kept while your account is open. If you delete your account, it is kept for up to 12 months after deletion and then deleted automatically (storage limitation, Article 5(1)(e) GDPR).
• Effect on you: the only effect is that a second welcome bonus is not issued. It does not stop you creating an account or placing orders.
• Your rights: you can object to this processing (Article 21 GDPR) or ask for the code to be erased (Article 17 GDPR) by emailing privacy@eirebites.ie. We will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds, such as an ongoing fraud investigation.
